Diablo 4 Temple of Rot Stronghold – Location, How to Beat, Rewards

Don't get eaten.

Cannibals had to appear at some point in Diablo 4 and there is no better place than the Temple of Rot Stronghold for some of the nastiest enemies to appear. This stronghold is full of elite champions who will attempt to stop you from reaching the underbelly of the temple, which I’m here to help you through. Here’s how to complete the Temple of Rot Stronghold in Diablo 4, including location and rewards.

Where to Find the Temple of Rot Stronghold in Diablo 4

The Temple of Rot Stronghold can be found in the Dry Steppes region of Diablo 4 in the southern section of the map. You will find the stronghold on the southern border that is near Kehjistan. This temple is located directly to the east of the Dry Steppes PvP zone, so it’s easy to pinpoint.

When you arrive, there are three different entrances that lead to the Temple of Rot. As soon as you walk in, there will be groups of cannibals waiting to attack, and they aren’t short on any damage. The champions are all over the enclosed map and you need to take them down to get any further.

How to Slay the Cannibal Champions in the Temple of Rot

Slaying the Cannibal Champions simply means taking down four of the major elites that are scattered around the temple. I didn’t have to worry about any puzzles or lost items in this stronghold, so the only goal is to take down dangerous groups of cannibals that are guarding the main underbelly.

In total, there are four Cannibal Champions that are spread around the Temple of Rot. The four champions include Arden, Razorface, the Corpse Spawn, and Bostar. After you defeat each one of the elites, there will be gruesome barricades and eggs that block the way. Make sure to tear these down before you enter new rooms.

Once you slay the Cannibal Champions in the Temple of Rot Stronghold, it’s time to follow the central stairs down to the underbelly section. Of course, this is where the cannibal boss is looking for another meal.

How to Defeat Molqarth the Hungerer in Diablo 4

Molqarth the Hunger relies heavily on poison scattered around the arena. However, this won’t appear until the first quarter of his health appears. When the fight begins, Molqarth will rely on his two maces for physical damage up close, and if you run away, he will slam them down to send shock waves ahead.

After the first quarter of health is gone, he will break open eggs and throw poison down. Make sure to kill the swarms that fly out of the eggs and avoid the poison. Otherwise, his attacks remain the same in Diablo 4 and you simply need to hit and run around the poison.

When Molqarth the Hungerer is defeated, there is a second phase against the Spawn of Molqarth. I saw this and immediately knew this was a secondary parasite coming from the main boss. It has much less health but will use jump attacks to close the gap. All the other attacks remain the same. Use the same hit-and-run tactics and the fight will end fairly soon in the Temple of Rot Stronghold.

Temple of Rot Rewards in Diablo 4

Once you defeat the final boss in the temple, you can expect 100 Renown and some rare gear as a reward. I was lucky enough to get a Legendary ring on my own run through the stronghold, but the equipment drops can differ for everyone.
