Diablo 4 Onyx Watchtower – Location, How to Beat, Rewards

The classic bandit camp.

Bandits have taken over the Onyx Watchtower Stronghold in the Dry Steppes of Diablo 4 and now it’s on you to cause some chaos within their camp. However, destroying all of their supplies and taking down Captain Ezmin is much easier said than done, so I outlined exactly how you can raze the encampment without a drop of sweat.

Where to Find the Onyx Watchtower in Diablo 4

The Onyx Watchtower Stronghold is located in the southern half of the Dry Steppes. This is the third major zone in Diablo 4 and it’s located just south of Scosglen. I spawned at the Ked Bardu Waypoint and made my way south into the sands where I was able to reach the Wayfarer’s Folly.

There are a few different paths you can take that lead to an opening to the Stronghold, but they all lead to the same area. I chose the northernmost path which has a small fence and is closest to the main boss.

How to Purge Bandits and Raze the Encampment in the Onyx Watchtower

To raze the encampment in the Onyx Watchtower, you must destroy all of the marked supplies around the stronghold. There are three types of supplies scattered around that include supply carts, tents, and support beams. All of these are marked on the mini-map and have an entire health bar. Use your normal attacks, or utilize the supplies to cause explosions as you fight the bandits.

That brings me to the next part of the main objective. You also need to purge the bandits from the Onyx Watchtower. Destroying all of their supplies won’t be enough. The largest groups of bandits will be marked with a red skull, and they typically ambush all at once instead of waiting for you to attack.

The group of bandits furthest to the south will have a key required to reach the final boss. After you have razed the encampment and taken down all of the bandits, it’s time for a final battle.

How to Defeat Captain Ezmin in Diablo 4

Captain Ezmin utilizes stealth and teleportation to throw you off in the Onyx Watchtower. The best counter is to save your nuke attacks until the boss reappears. Dump everything you have when the captain leaves stealth so that Ezmin can’t just run away. Sustained damage won’t be as effective here.

The captain alone didn’t cause me too much trouble, but Captain Ezmin has plenty of minion bandits for backup. Along with the minions, the boss will call in tons of fiery meteor attacks that make the arena much harder to navigate. This is another reason to have your nukes ready at once so you can focus on navigating the ground.

Ezmin doesn’t do an incredible amount of damage in the Onyx Watchtower, and you can even catch the boss before they reach stealth in some cases. Aggression helped me in many cases during the fight and It will help you stay alive against the bandits in Diablo 4 as well.

Onyx Watchtower Rewards in Diablo 4

When you complete the Watchtower Stronghold, you can expect to earn 100 Renown and you have a high chance of a Legendary item. I received a Legendary Bow on my run through the Stronghold, but the gear you get can change.
