Destiny: The Taken King – How to Rank Up Factions Fast

Find out how to max out your Factions Ranks with ease and speed.
This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

Factions are a vital part to the Destiny endgame formula so ranking up factions as fast as possible is important in Destiny. Any players looking to make the most of their science fiction loot and gun adventure will want to choose a faction, and start working towards leveling up their chosen Faction’s reputation in order to unlock new gear, weapons, and other items that they can purchase. In this guide we will break down several ways that you can rank your Factions up quickly, that way you can maximize the amount of gear you’re getting from them.

There are three big ways to rank up your Faction reputation quickly. We’ve broken them down into a few different sections here, so be sure to read up on everything below for the most information.

Strike Playlists

When you have your Faction chosen, head into Orbit and make your way to the Strike Playlist. This is a great time to pop any Vanguard Reputation boosters you might have, as it will only increase your reputation gained for each strike completion. You’ll want to make sure you have a good bit of time carved out, though. As completing more strikes back to back will reward you with more goodies, which can then be used to increase your reputation with the Cryptarch.

Crucible Matches

Like the Strike Playlists, Crucible matches are an excellent way to boost your Faction reputation. Grab yourself a Crucible Reputation booster, activate it, and then head into your favorite PVP mode. You’ll want to bring some friends along for the ride as well, since the Reputation Boosters actually effect you and your entire Fireteam. Yay, free experience for all!

The final way you can rank your Factions up quickly, is to donate to their cause. This can only be done at the Dead Orbit, New Monarchy, and Future War Cult Factions, however, so don’t try to give your useless junk to the Vanguard leaders. They don’t want it. We’ve compiled a list of all the items that you can donate for reputation below, so be sure to check it out, and then head to your favorite Faction leader and throw your old stuff away.

  • Motes of Light – 5 for 100 Rep.
  • Weapon Parts – 25 for 50 Rep.
  • Armor Materials – 25 for 25 Rep.
  • Special Ammo Synthesis – 4 for 25 Rep.
  • Heavy Ammo Synthesis – 1 for 25 Rep.
  • Planetary Materials (random each week) – 25 for 50 Rep.

These are all viable options for ranking up your Factions quickly. Of course, to level up the Cryptarch you will want to complete events like the Prison of Elders or the Court of Oryx, which will reward you with plenty of Engrams that you can decrypt for new items, Weapon parts, Armor Materials, and most important of all, Cryptarch experience. Level up your Factions each rank will reward you with massive Faction-based packages that include quite a few nifty items. Of course, the whole process is up to RNG, so you may or may not get anything good out of it.

We’ll be covering Destiny quite extensively in the weeks to come, so be sure to keep your eyes on Primagames for new walkthroughs, tips, tricks, and guides as we prepare for the release of Rise of Iron on September 20.
