As Destiny 2 fans impatiently await the release of The Final Shape, many players are curious about the expansion’s most anticipated event – the raid. While raid details have always been kept rather secret by Bungie, we recently got some information about the upcoming raid that may give players something to hold onto until its eventual arrival.

When Is The Release Date For The Final Shape Raid?
According to Bungie, The Final Shape Raid will be released on Friday, June 7 at 10 AM PT/1 PM EST, just three days after the release date for The Final Shape expansion.
This revelation caused some friction in the community as many players wondered if that would grant them enough time to prepare for what mysteries awaited them. However, players should note that because raids arrive in contest mode, there isn’t a need to grind to max level anymore, as being under-leveled is highly unlikely to affect the experience.
The Final Shape Raid Contest Mode
Keeping in line with previous raids, The Final Shape will be no different. The Contest Mode modifier for the raid will remain active for the first 48 hours, capping all players at a level that is twenty below the recommended power. This would obviously make the raid a bit more difficult for players. However, the rewards would be even more enticing.
Typically, players who complete a new raid within the first 48 hours receive a limited-time emblem. While Bungie hasn’t made mention of the reward for contest mode in The Final Shape Raid, we can imagine a similar reward will be given to players this time around.
The Final Shape Raid Bosses
While we don’t have a full list of all the bosses that Guardians will face on raid day, we do know about one…The Witness. As confirmed by ex-Game Director Joe Blackburn, players will have their final face-off with the Witness in the upcoming raid.
However, as with every raid in the past, this will not be the only encounter. And information on the upcoming bosses will likely be kept sealed right up until the point when the raid releases.
The Final Shape Raid Location
While it isn’t clear where the new raid will take place, all signs are pointing to the raid location being within the Traveler itself. If Guardians are to face the Witness, it would only make sense to face him where he resides.
Considering the end of Lightfall, this means that the final showdown between the forces of light and darkness will take place within the heart of the Traveler.
