Destiny 2 New “Prismatic” Subclass Revealed For The Final Shape

A new expansion in Destiny 2 means a new subclass. And this one is different that any other before...

Bungie has finally released important gameplay details for what players can expect in Destiny 2: The Final Shape. In a livestream on April 9, one of the first bits of information released about The Final Shape was the introduction of a new subclass…Prismatic. Here’s everything we know about the new Prismatic subclass in Destiny 2 that will accompany The Final Shape on June 4.

Destiny 2 Prismatic Subclass Overview

Many leaks and rumors were circulating in the past on an upcoming subclass for The Final Shape, and it looks like some of those leaks were true.

The brand new Prismatic subclass will be a unique one as it doesn’t necessarily grant Guardians a new element. Instead, this subclass allows players to combine the different elements (Arc, Solar, Void, Stasis, and Strand) and mix and match them to unlock new potential when it comes to the customization of abilities and builds.

In addition to remixing abilities and creating never-before-seen builds, players will also be able to extend the limits of Light and Darkness by entering a new state called Transcendence. Transcendence is only enabled when you have the Prismatic subclass in play. Once Transcendence is achieved, you unlock a new unique grenade ability that once again combines abilities of different elements, and also provides undefined weapon damage bonuses.

New Buildcrafting Possibilities in The Final Shape

With the introduction of the Prismatic, Bungie will be giving players more Aspects and Fragments to further customize their build to use combos that never existed previously. Seeing as Prismatic allows the merging of multiple subclasses, this means that players will now have more options than ever before to create new and unique builds for PvP and PvE.

Also, a nice touch is that players will only need to unlock Aspects and Fragments once to have them for every class in the game. This obviously will make the grind a bit easier and less tedious. Bungie will also generously be giving players more Aspect and Fragment slots than ever before.

During The Final Shape preview livestream, Bungie showcased gameplay of Prismatic on each class. Take a look:

It’s important to note that Bungie only showed a portion of what’s possible when using the new Prismatic subclass. It will definitely be interesting to see what builds players come up with in the coming months.

Will Destiny 2 Prismatic Be Overpowered?

During and after Bungie’s live stream, many players wondered whether or not Prismatic would potentially make the game “easier”. However, it’s not far-fetched to assume that Bungie has already thought of this. With new enemy factions being introduced with The Final Shape, and taking into consideration the obvious power scaling that will take place, it’s safe to say that Bungie will find a way to make the game challenging nonetheless.

One question that remains unanswered is whether or not Prismatic will be overpowered in PvP. However, we’ll have to wait for more information on The Final Shape to make that conclusion.
