Destiny 2 Exotic Class Items Finally Return In The Final Shape

Remember Exotic class items? Well, they're back.

Destiny 2‘s The Final Shape preview livestream kicked off with a slew of revealing details on the upcoming expansion in June. In addition to a new enemy faction, new subclass, and more, Bungie also revealed that a fan-favorite feature would be returning to players when The Final Shape arrives…Exotic class items.

Even though this isn’t the first time Exotic class items were introduced to the Destiny universe, this time they will operate a bit differently.

Destiny Exotic Class Items Aren’t New

Back in Destiny 1 during the era of The Taken King, Bungie introduced Exotic class items that could be obtained through what were then factions. These factions included the Dead Orbit, New Monarchy, and Future War Cult. The bonuses on the class items were pretty straightforward; Guardians would gain increased XP from their desired faction, along with upgrades that made it easier to rank up certain weapons.

However, in The Final Shape, Exotic class items will work a bit differently, allowing players more customization than ever before when it comes to build crafting.

Alongside the introduction of the brand new Subclass, “Prismatic”, these Exotic class items will work specifically in tandem with the new abilities. Exotic class items are designed for the Prismatic subclass and will feature two random Exotic perks inspired by various Exotic armor pieces, even across different classes. Bungie gave several examples of this.

For instance, a Hunter might have a cloak combining traits from Assassins’ Cowl and Liar’s Handshake. Similarly, Warlocks could have a bond with perks from Apotheosis Veil and Star-Eater Scales, while Titans might get a mark with elements of Ophidian Aspect and Precious Scars.

Without a doubt, the introduction of these new exotic class items means that Guardians will have more customization than ever before when it comes to creating and finding builds that complement each other. Considering the number of subclasses and exotics that exist in Destiny 2, players will soon be able to get a lot more creative when creating their ideal build using the Prismatic subclass and the new exotic class items.

Here’s a first look at each of the exotic class items that will be coming with The Final Shape on June 4:

That’s all the information we have so far about the upcoming Exotic class items in Destiny 2. However, we will update this guide as more information is released. Be sure to check out our guide on the new subclass in The Final Shape as well.

Till next time, Guardians.
