Been swanning around the Dreaming City in Destiny 2 recently? Maybe you’ve been patrolling, or just having a grand old time doing public events. In any regard, you’ve picked up a curious item — a Corsair Down. A relatively harmless thing, sitting in your inventory and crackling away about an SOS. Not sure what this does, or what it can do for you? Check out our Destiny 2 Corsair Down guide to figure out what to do next when you find one of these items in the wild.
Destiny 2 Corsair Down Guide: What is this Locator?
The only way you can get your hands on one of these bad boys is, well, to hope that you get one. It’s all up to RNG. You’re going to have to essentially hope that you get one while patrolling the Dreaming City or completing public events in it. When it shows up in your pouches, it’ll have its very own special description. Note: this isn’t just some flavor text. It’s a different description for each Corsair Down that you happen across. You actually have to pay close attention to these descriptions because there’s a clue embedded in each one. That’s right — the Corsair Down is a locator of sorts, and following its clues will take you to a secret location.
Destiny 2 Corsair Down Guide: Corsair Down Locations and Benefits
An important part of using the Corsair Down in your inventory is puzzling out what the clues in its description mean. Think of this like a riddle. The description of the item will have a few keywords for you to identify and we’ve broken them down for you below.
“Something about Aphelion” — head to Aphelion’s Rest by Petra
“A bay” — head to the Bay of Drowned Wishes
“Something about a chamber” — head to the Chamber of Starlight in Rheasilvia
“Something about a garden” — head to the Gardens of Eslia
“Harbinger” — head to Harbinger’s Seclude
“Spine” or “Mist” — head to the Spine of Keres
One thing all these locations have in common is that by the time you follow the Corsair Down’s directions, you’re going to be confronted by a dead body. Yeah, for all the buzz about following an SOS call, you’re not going to show up in time to actually help anyone. Luckily for you, this is Destiny 2 after all, which means that where you encounter a dead body, you’re probably also going to encounter a ton of enemies to defeat. Kill whatever enemies you find — if you’re having trouble seeing them, we’d recommend using a Queensfoil tincture — when you’re at the location specified by the Destiny 2 Corsair Down, and head back to the Queen’s Guard camp for your reward of gear and dark fragments. If you’re wanting to bust through some content that might be a bit more current, though, why don’t you have a crack at collecting every Pinnacle weapon with the help of our guide?
