How to Fix Death Stranding Error Code 51003

The best way to fix any kind of error message in a game is to understand what the code means. In the case of the Death Stranding error code 51003, it means that the connection to the game’s servers are unstable, resulting in a disconnection from the online mode. There’s some good news and bad news here, the good news is that it’s a server-side issue, meaning that it’s not an issue on your end. However, the bad news is that there is no fix for the 51003 error code in Death Stranding, as it’ll be up to developers.

There are a couple of different reasons for the servers being unstable, but the most obvious reason is that at the time of writing, the game just released on PC, which means there is a high volume of new players loading into the game and overloading the servers. It seems likely that this issue will go away once the player base stabilizes and the developers are able to tweak some settings on the backend. However, until then, it seems you’ll have to wait it out.

Luckily, the Death Stranding error code 51003 doesn’t prevent you from playing the game completely, but just from playing the online components. Essentially, this means that you won’t be able to use structures built by other players to get around easier. So while it may slow down your travel time a little bit, it’s certainly not the end of the world and the game is still playable in the offline mode. Further, once the servers are stable again, you can hop into the online mode and take full advantage of other players’ work.

Death Stranding originally released on the PlayStation 4 in November 2019 and released on PC on July 14, 2020. The game was created by industry icon Hideo Kojima and follows Norman Reedus’ Sam Porter Bridges as he journeys across an apocalyptic world in an effort to reconnect society.
