How to Get Souls

Though souls are the main form of currency in Darksiders 3, they also serve a function in helping you level up. Fury will automatically collect souls upon defeating enemies, and players can keep track of how many souls they have in the lower right corner of the screen. Souls can also be obtained from breaking objects in the environment, as well as by shattering Lurcher Crystals.

Lurcher Crystals are bundles of souls that come in various sizes, such as Clumps and Clusters. To obtain souls from a Lurcher Crystal, you must shatter them from within your inventory.

Open your inventory and tab over to the Crystals section, then press and hold the Shatter button to break the Lurcher Crystal and collect its souls. Press and hold the Shatter All button to break all of the Lurcher Crystals you have of a certain size. It’s best to do this just before visiting Vulgrim, as you don’t want to risk dying and dropping the souls along the way. These soul items cannot be purchased from or sold to Vulgrim, so make sure to scavenge thoroughly to find these valuable items.

Feed Souls to Vulgrim

Vulgrim is more than just a humble merchant in Darksiders 3. In order to level up your attributes, you will need to feed souls that you’ve collected to Vulgrim to gain the Attribute Points needed for leveling up.

Interact with Vulgrim at one of his locations and select Feed Souls. The bar will display the number of souls required to reach the next level. Hold the Feed Souls button to offer up the required souls to Vulgrim. Upon filling the bar and leveling up, you will gain one Attribute Point.

Spend Attribute Points

Attribute Points can be applied to one of three attributes: Health, Strength, or Arcane. Each attribute has its own level scaling, which you can view in your Inventory. Open your inventory menu and hover over one of your attributes to see its stats at the next level. When you’ve decided on an attribute to level up, select the attribute and hold the Upgrade Attribute button to permanently apply one of your Attribute Points to it.

Another way to obtain Attribute Points is by collecting and shattering Luminous Visages, which can be found throughout the world. These items are much rarer than Lurcher Crystals though, so be sure to thoroughly check every nook and cranny while exploring to find these helpful items.

That’s all you really need to know about how to get souls and level up in Darksiders 3. However, if you want Fury to hit hard and take names, you’ll need to stay on top of upgrading her weapons and enhancements as well, so make sure to visit our guide on that.
