While exploring the Great Sky Island in Tears of the Kingdom, you might come across some rails that will not lead you to the stars. Gotta play another game for that. Those rails are just another hindrance to your destination as they are broken, so you are only set for a tragic end the moment you try to get past them riding a minecart.Â
So how could you get to the other side? Well, have you tried walking right past them?! Nothing could go wrong, right? I see my cat doing something similar all the time, so I can definitely do the same in a video game. And if I fail, it is not my fault. Why in the world have those constructs not finished the rail? Anyway, can you ACTUALLY walk through them?
Can You Walk Through Broken Rails in Tears of the Kingdom?
Yes, you definitely can, but good luck with that. Walking on rails requires extreme precision which can be hard to achieve with your usual Switch joycons (God forgive you for trying to do it with the slightest drift). And not made any easier with a Switch controller. Chances are that you will fall long before you can actually reach the other side. You will even lose a heart if you end up falling on a cliff.
But yeah, it is not something impossible, just extremely hard to do. You might be tempted to do it (just like I was) during the early game on your way to the third shrine when you find your first rails. Most of them can be crossed with minecarts as usual, but you have to get a little bit more creative with the Ultrahand for the broken ones.

Walking on a straight path very slowly without falling down requires some precision I definitely do not have. I tried walking on the very first pipe we find on the first shrine instead of building something. I got half the way done before I fell, gave up and did what the game was highly encouraging me to do. Cannot run from the Ultrahand forever.Â
You might be able to do it if you are patient enough. But if you just want to progress as soon as possible, your magical arm is the way.
