Fuse is one of the mechanics that is allowing for players to come up with seemingly limitless creations or experiments within Tears of the Kingdom. Projectiles use a different method of Fusion though, and the ability to Fuse items to arrows is done entirely differently when compared to other objects.
Just like the other standard weapons and shields, each arrow you pull on the bow can be Fused to have all kinds of reactions, such as the standard fire and ice. Once I figured it out for myself, I was trying to Fuse all kinds of items to my arrows and now I can help you as well.
Tears of the Kingdom – How to Use Fuse on Arrows
To start combining all kinds of objects or effects to your projectiles, you need to use the bow itself rather than pulling up the “L” menu full of additional powers. To aim the bow, hold “ZR” and you can see the number of arrows left in your inventory, along with the crosshair. While Link aims the bow, it’s time to start fusing.
With the bow still out, hold “up” on the D-Pad and use the “RS” to move left or right in this menu. The menu will display nearly all of the general items in your inventory that can be Fused to an individual arrow. Some items will cause effects like lightning, while others will simply give you an arrow that also happens to have a mushroom attached.
How to Fuse Items to Arrows:
- Hold ZR and aim the bow
- Hold up on the D-Pad
- Use RS to scroll left or right on the item you want
- Let go of the D-Pad to make a selection

If you decide you don’t want to Fuse items with arrows after you’ve already made a choice in Tears of the Kingdom, simply cancel the draw on the bow and have Link sheathe his weapon with “B.” This will place the arrow back in the quiver and the item back in your inventory. It’s a great way to cancel a mistake, but don’t let that stop you from experimenting.
