Overwatch 2 is out, or at least the multiplayer half of it. Anyway, shooter fans, hero shooter fans, and general technological troublemakers are all finding common ground with one question: “Can Overwatch 2 run on Steam Deck?” Running games that aren’t on Steam on the Steam Deck is a lot of fun for portable gaming diehards, and a general point of curiosity for everyone else. So here’s what we know about whether or not you can play Overwatch 2 on Steam Deck.

It seems like for the most part, the answer is yes. The main reason folks trying to play their favorite online shooters on Steam Deck are running into issues is anti-cheat software. Luckily, Overwatch 2 doesn’t use the same kind of kernel-level anti-cheat software that problem games do. Therefore, with some extra effort, you can in fact run Overwatch 2 on Steam Deck.
As with other outside sources, it takes a little bit of gamer elbow grease (ew) to get Battle.net installed on Steam Deck. Luckily, for those of us who are less technologically talented, the sickos out there have already done the hardest work for us. Check out this tutorial video, for example:
Make sure to pay close attention to every step of this video. Creator MonroeWorld stresses at multiple intervals that not following his instructions step by step can cause problems. If this seems like a lot of effort, yeah, you’re absolutely right. But this is the world you’ve stepped into by picking up a Steam Deck and doing Not Steam things with it. This stuff just comes with the territory.
