Can You Play Midnight Suns on Steam Deck? – Answered

Can you enjoy some midnight Deck action?

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is finally available on all major platforms, and players are excited, needless to say. The turn-based XCOM-style tactics game features many of the Marvel characters you’ve come to know and love, along with some new ones you’ll soon learn to appreciate. All of this is as the team takes on a completely new and unfamiliar foe. Before you play, though, you may be wondering if your favorite PC handheld can handle the game. Here’s whether you can play Marvel’s Midnight Suns on the Steam Deck.

Is Marvel’s Midnight Suns Playable on Steam Deck?

The answer to this question is surprisingly complex. Is Marvel’s Midnight Suns playable on the Steam Deck in the literal sense? Sure. With some workarounds, you could probably launch it on the platform. That doesn’t mean you want to, though, as Midnight Suns is incredibly unoptimized at launch for the Steam Deck, having nowhere near the necessary UI or the performance to be in a playable state.

With that being said, that doesn’t mean it never will be. The developers have also said this is something they’re working on in the post-launch window and plan to get it out to players as soon as possible. Once they’ve worked on optimization to make it run much better on the Steam Deck, plus given the proper UI, the team should give a proper release date. If you want to play it as soon as it’s ready for the platform, keep your eyes glued to the team’s social media channels.

On the bright side, the game is also proving to be one of the better XCOM-style games out on the market. Metacritic has the game sitting at a comfortable 83, so you can rest assured you’ll likely enjoy it once it’s on Valve’s handheld. You’ll just need to have some patience.
