There’s still a pending answer for one of the most important questions in Hogwarts Legacy. And no, I’m not talking about picking your wand, your Patronus, or your house. No, get all of those out of here. All that people need to know about what really matters: Can you pet animals in this wizard game?
We know we can take care of some magical beasts and other regular animals, but does that extend to giving them those head pats when they really deserve them or is that “care” only reserved to nurture and watching them grow? Time to find that out below.

The video shows a cat, but that action by itself suggests that other animals can also receive some love in the game. It would be a huge waste if they couldn’t, in the end. So regular animals are covered, and that will likely be the case with thestrals and other similar creatures from the magical side.
But petting every animal in your sight will probably not be the only thing you’ll be doing in this game (but no one would judge you if it was, really), as the game offers lots of different things to do in the game, such as customizing your wand and collecting many different fashion items. Can’t do magic with bad looks.
And that’s all you need to know about petting animals in Hogwarts Legacy. If you’re still unsure about which platform you should play the game, take a look at our PS5 x Xbox Series X comparison here. If none of these is your console, the game’s also available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, with a Nintendo Switch release incoming.
