Playing on PC offers countless benefits, like tweaking a game with the perfect settings or mod an adventure to include modern weaponry and Thomas the Tank Engine. So, with that in mind, can you mod Nightingale?
Does Nightingale Support Modding?
Unfortunately, the studio recently announced via an FAQ that Nightingale will not support mods upon release into Early Access. That’s a massive market and community that can help keep a niche game alive for many years to come, usually well past the game’s prime, so it’s something they may wish to explore further.
They only revealed they won’t officially support community mods on launch. They intend to revisit it in the future, depending on the pace of development and the complexity of adding a toolset for community modders to work with, I would imagine.
In a devlog, the team revealed that some of them have created mods for PC games in the past and it is something that they enjoy doing. Their reasoning for not supporting mods on launch is that they wish to focus on reducing too much foreign code and ensuring everyone has a balanced experience on launch with the support of the studio.
What Types of Mods Could We See in the Future?
Let’s say Inflexion Games unveils mod support partway through Early Access, and the community begins working on a slew of content; what then? What types of mods could Nightingale see in the future?
Personally, I imagine Nightingale would wind up with a lot of clothing, creature, and weapon game mods almost immediately. I have no doubts that someone excited about the game is already cooking up a few designs in a notebook somewhere. It’s just a matter of gaining access to the game’s tools and crafting user-made content for the public to use.
Eventually, mods may even encompass entire realms and Realm Cards, which change the environment, flora, and fauna to keep things fresh.
