No, you can’t kill Companions in Starfield, no matter how hard you try. The most that happens is that they’re downed and on their knees, crawling about for a short while before getting back up as if nothing happened.

So far, I haven’t been able to kill any of my available Companions, but if I manage to find one that’s killable, I’ll let you know. You can also check this very easily on your own by saving the game and unloading all wrath on the unsuspecting character, downing them, and then shooting them some more.
