Many of the traits you can select when first creating a character in Starfield are quite practical. Some increase your health and oxygen under certain conditions, while others, like Taskmaster, can repair your ship without needing to spend Ship Parts. Others are more for either a good laugh or some unintentional frustration. In the case of the Adoring Fan, you might want to put an end to that frustration quickly. Here’s whether you can kill the Adoring Fan in Starfield.
Are You Able to Shoot the Adoring Fan?
Thankfully, you can put an end to the incessant nightmare that is the Adoring Fan. You can’t do it the normal way through shooting him straight up, though. As is his normal mood, he’ll simply assume you shot him by accident and go on about his endless worship of you. Instead, you’ll need to do something that seems counterproductive: talk to him.

When speaking to him, there’s a dialogue option listed “[Attack] It’s time for you to go. Permanently.” He’ll have his last words before you’re welcome to blast him to bits. He doesn’t even show any resistance, seemingly considering it an honorable death to be killed by his idol. Once you kill him, he’s gone for the rest of your playthrough and can’t be brought back.
As for if this should be the path you take, I’d advise it. You don’t gain anything too crazy from him outside of him being as annoying as possible, and you could easily get the same things from having other, less annoying companions in your party. You could, of course, persuade him that you aren’t much of a hero or have him removed from your Crew permanently, but where’s the fun in that?
