With the release of Cyberpunk 2077 comes questions about things like genitals (of course) and whether you can change your appearance. The character customization menu is a lot of fun, but ultimately, most people just want to jump into the game as quickly as possible. This can lead to the desire to go back and change things later once you’ve gotten a taste for the actual game.

So, can you change your appearance or gender in Cyberpunk 2077? Here’s what you need to know...

Can You Change Your Appearance or Gender In Cyberpunk 2077?

The quick answer to the question of whether you can change your appearance and/or gender in Cyberpunk 2077 is no, you can’t. If you pick the Male V preset at the start of the game, you can’t go back and select the Female V preset, and vice versa.

You can customize each one a lot though, like giving the Female V preset a penis or a lower register, male voice. As for the differences between the Male and Female V presets, you’ll have different romance options available to you later in the game with Panam and Kerry available to Male V, and Judy and River available to Female V.

Certain romance options will require you to have a specific setup for V. With Judy, she'll require you to be Female V with a feminine body type and a feminine voice. With Kerry, he requires you to be a Male V with a masculine body type and masculine voice.

If you aren’t interested in romancing specific people but want to scope out the game’s sex scenes, you can pick up a “Joytoy” (the game’s term for sex worker), and there are both male and female options available.

Note that there are no in-game impacts in response to your Male V or Female V genital customization options. You won’t see much of yourself “down there” when it comes to sex cutscenes.

Recently, there was a rumor that picking a circumcised penis in the game could lock you out of romance options. This is false, you’re treated no differently whether you have a circumcised or uncircumcised penis.

The option is primarily there in the event you want your character to look like you as much as possible, right down to the tip of your penis. That was a really weird sentence for us to write down, but you get the point.

Moving on from that, if you picked one hair color at the start of the game, but end up really hating it, you can’t go back in and change it. You also won’t be able to find shops that offer those sorts of hair color, cut, and style changes either.

Again, take some time in the character customization menu to make your version of V look exactly the way you want them to look. You won’t be able to change anything later on.
