What Happened to Call of Duty: Warzone Plunder Mode?

If you’re not familiar with the game mode, the purpose of Plunder is to collect more money than the other team. Further, if you’re killed, you won’t go to the Gulag or spectator’s mode, but instead will be respawned right back into the game. As a team collects cash, they can deposit it at a special helipad until they’ve reached a team total of $1 million. At that point, a special 2-minute overtime period will begin and the other teams will attempt to gather as much cash as possible before the timer runs out in an effort to defeat the first-place team. While it sounds a bit confusing, it’s actually pretty simple and was very popular among Warzone players.

Naturally, a lot of players are wondering what happened to the Call of Duty: Warzone Plunder game mode. After players complained that the Plunder mode was gone, Infinity Ward’s co-director of Multiplayer Joe Cecot took to Twitter to assure fans that Plunder would be back soon. So don’t worry, there is no need to panic, as it appears that the game mode was simply temporarily removed to make room for the free multiplayer weekend, and will be back in the playlists in a few days.

This isn’t the first time Infinity Ward has been criticized for removing popular game modes to make room for something else. A while back, Bounty Contracts were removed in favor of Most Wanted contracts, a move that the community was not fond of. Naturally, it didn’t take long for Infinity Ward to reverse the decision and revamp Most Wanted contracts for Season 4.
