One of our favorite maps is Spire, the futuristic-looking location with plenty of room to run around and structures to run across. It’s a wonderful, wide-open map that will suit all play styles, whether you’re into CQB or shooting someone from a distance.

Below are some tips to keep in mind while fragging enemies on Spire.

Take Advantage of the Layout

First you’ll want to get a lay of the land. Both the center and the left side of the map are good for long-range attackers using assault rifles as well as those with sniper rifles. There’s also an ample amount of cover, and you can use stairways to your advantage, ambushing someone coming up (or if you’re quick with jumping, getting someone from the other side).

If you prefer close quarters combat, your best bet is to stick with the right side of the map. It’s a lot narrower when it comes to pegging someone from a distance, but if you have your hands on a good SMG or assault rifle, you can make quick work of opponents charging down the other end. Try to hang close to corners so you can see enemies and peg them before they attempt to get a shot off.

The Upstairs Rooms are the Way to Go

There are rooms cornered off with a viewpoint looking across the center of the map. These will be good for players who prefer attacking from a distance, as well as sniping. You can also jump through bigger windows and take someone by surprise if you’re more of a CQB kind of player, provided you keep moving and don’t give the snipers enough space to get a bead on you.

These windowed rooms are a good place to set up a two-man team – one to do the sniping or shooting into the center area, and another watching his or her back so enemies don’t sneak in from behind and take them out. We suggest leaning over the desk next to the entryway. This will allow you to see players coming at you (without them having much time to react) so you can take them out quickly and conveniently.

Don’t remain here for too long. Chances are someone will get wise and lob grenades into the room, forcing you to rush out into an ambush.

Wall-Running Around Spire

Finally, there are a couple of wide-open sections on the map where you can chain wall runs together. It’s a great way to get out of the clogged central location or lanes on the main part of the map, but you’ll need to proceed with caution.

These sections are connected via walls that have to be traversed perfectly. Otherwise if you get a jump wrong you could fall to your death. Additionally, keep an eye out for enemies waiting in the next room. Keep your gun drawn.
