Bioshock 2 is a bit different than the original game, but we’ve still got you covered with some of the best tips you’ll find to save your life. Instead of playing as a character like Jack, you’re now thrust into a Big Daddy’s point of view. Because of this you’ll need to embrace your inner Big Daddy and make your way through the game adopting Little Sisters and protecting them. Of course, none of this will get very far if you can’t stay alive. We’ve compiled a list of five of the biggest tips we could offer to help you keep your Big Daddy alive and moving forward.
Explore
This one sounds pretty easy to grasp, but you’d be surprised by the number of people who don’t do this. Sure, there are plenty of things to find in and around the main areas of the game. But, if you go outside the bounds of the main path, and dive into the hidden areas, you’re going to find a lot of really cool things like EVE Hypos, First Aid Kits, and more.
Hack Smarter Not Harder
As you progress through the game you’re going to come across machines that are harder to hack than anything you’ve encountered before. You can make hacking easier by using Tonics like EZ-Hack or Careful Hacker. If you don’t have any Tonics on you, try using the Winter Blast Plasmid to slow the machine down, which will allow you better reaction time when hacking.
Pick and Choose Your ADAM Supply
In order to collect ADAM, you’re going to have to adopt Little Sisters and protect them as they harvest it from corpses. This can be a pretty challenging act, however, so you’ll want to make sure you’re only going after bodies that are easily defendable. There are plenty of corpses laying around for your Little Sister to gather ADAM from, so don’t be afraid to ignore one spot for a different one that has turrets and other defensive items stacked around it.
Aim for the Head
Ammunition for the various weapons in Bioshock 2 can be pretty hard to come by, which is why you should always try to conserve your ammo as much as possible. This can be done by aiming at enemy heads, and trying to pull off headshots, which till take your foes down much quicker than body shots will. It’s a bit of a challenge at first, having to get used to aiming for their head while they are moving. But, if you keep up your practice, if shouldn’t take you too terribly long to get the hang of it, and start laying your foes down in quick succession. Just remember to reload and keep an eye on your ammo capacity!
Listen Carefully
As with any immersive game of this type, the sound design is incredibly crucial to your survival in Bioshock 2. Many times you’ll be able to hear where enemies are, when they are moving, and what they are doing. The music can also be an extremely powerful tool to help you know when intense moments are coming up, so be sure to keep your ears open and focused for new sounds when you play. Of course, keeping your eyes constantly scanning the area around you is just as important as listening, so make sure you’re devoting plenty of time to both particular tasks.
Remember to aim for the head, listen to the environment around you, and converse your ammunition. You’ll also want to keep the areas around corpses in mind when looking for new ADAM to harvest, and remember to use your Winter Blast Plasmid to make hacking easier. Keep these things in mind when playing Bioshock 2 and we guarantee you’ll survive a lot longer than you would if you didn’t.
