Now that Valorant is out of its closed beta and available to the public, there are lots of new players suiting up and hopping into the game. With tons of different Agents to play as, it can be hard to know which is the best Valorant character for beginners. In this guide, we are going to take a look at three Agents that will be good for players who are just starting out.

Best Valorant Characters For a Beginner

At the time of writing, there are 10 different Agents available to players in Valorant. As you might expect, each character comes with a unique set of skills and abilities, some of which are easy to get the hang of, while others aren’t. If you’ve only loaded up the game a few times, you’ll likely want to start with one of the simpler characters and work your way up. In the table below, you’ll find our top three picks for the best Valorant characters for a beginner, along with a list of their abilities.

For those who like to play aggressively and make a lot of explosions, Brimstone is probably going to the best Agent for you. However, if you like to stand back and provide support toyour teammates, you’ll want to play as Sage. Lastly, if you’re a fan of hanging back, gathering intel, and making callouts for your teammates, you’ll want to play as Sova.

If you’re still figuring out how everything works in the game, be sure to check out our guide on how to unlock new Agents. Of course, it’s worth noting that just because you’re new to the game, doesn’t mean that you have to stick to using the Agents listed in the table above. If you have a lot of experience with team-based online PVP-style games, like Overwatch, for example, it might not take you very long to get a feel for the mechanics and how the game works. It’s really up to your personal preference, so if the Agents mentioned above don’t sound like a good fit for you, then try another!
