Here’s a long list of basic and advanced tips and tricks to get you started in DSTS.

Helpful Tips and Tricks in Digimon Story Time Stranger – Beginner and Advanced Guide

  • When you encounter side quests, even if the task may seem mundane, finish all of the ones that give Anomaly Points. It’ll help you get to Agent Rank 3 or 5 quicker, giving you earlier access to Champion and Ultimate Digivoluitions.
  • You can reach Agent Rank 7 around the Carnival Omni-Arena side mission if you were doing all the side missions as you progress. This leaves you a small window of getting Mega and Mega+ Digimon for the end of the first playthrough.
  • DigiAttacks work based on your camera angle and not your character’s perspective. Work that camera so you always get the first strike.
  • Items or consumables like Multi-boost a or b are powerful. Since using items doesn’t take an action or turn, they are almost free power-ups in battle.
  • STR stats are for physical damage, and INT stats are for magic damage. Pay attention to these stats on a Digimon so you know what type of attack to give them.
  • Pick up those random items around the world. Some of them will be used to buy Training Sets and Digi-Eggs later in the game.
  • It is good to remember that every Digimon gets EXP when you win a battle. It is better to know that Digimon that win or participate in battles improve their talent and bond as well.
  • Pick a few core Digimon that you want on your party to improve their level cap. Use other reserve member slots to level other Digimon for the future.
  • You can freely change Aegiomon’s Data Fragment to alter his power for specific fights.
  • Don’t be afraid to do Hail Mary plays. If you are cornered in battle, you can play a turn in a way that you can attack with everyone except for one Digimon that will use Guard to survive. If there’s a big wave of damage, at least one Digimon lives, and you can use a full party revive. Revived members should take their turn immediately.
  • Focus on Agent Skills that give you bonus EXP, like the education nodes. These are some of the best Agent Skills in the game.
  • Switch between Cross Art skills. Cross Arts: Strike is powerful against bosses, and it could help you overcome that “Break” point damage to stop a charged attack from a boss. Some charge attacks even require multiple targets, so Cross Art: Break would be better.
  • Always attach equipment to your Digimon. They are free buffs!
  • Digimon in the Digifarm also gain EXP from your battles.
  • Digivolve your Digimon even if you plan on load enhancing them to level up a Digimon. They provide a bigger EXP boost if they are more Digivolved.
  • Outer Dungeons provide a lot of useful items, such as Medical Sprays. They are also repeatable!
  • Don’t forget to claim your bonuses in the In-Between Theatre.
  • You don’t have to buy Digi-Eggs for each Digivolution. They are not consumables.
  • Talk to your Digimon using the Digiline. You can get some useful personality skills and some free Bond bonuses.
  • Since you can get easy consumables from Outer Dungeons, you can save your money for Card collecting or other equipment.
  • Some side quests require you to just switch costumes.
  • Analyze your opponents to help you learn more about their attributes and weaknesses.
  • You can increase the speed of the auto-battle by disabling it first and flicking the right analog stick up until you see X5 speed in the combat HUD.
  • X5 speed removes the animation of the attacks, making it so much quicker.
  • If you purely want to grind out levels, you can switch the difficulty to Story and use DigiAttacks to one-shot enemies. You don’t have to even go to battle anymore, assuming you have a few strong Digimon.
  • Have debuff skills on your Digimon. Use them when you have no good skill to use against a specific enemy.
  • Digivolutions are non-linear.
  • Convert Digimon at a 200% scan rate instead of 100%-190%. They’ll get way more stats, making it easier for Digivolutions.
  • Better training sets for the Digifarm become available later in the game. It’ll make your training much more efficient.
  • Cumulative stats (light blue stat numbers next to a Digimon’s stat screen) carry over depending on the bond level of a Digimon. If you have 100%, all the cumulative stats carry over when Digivolving.
  • Diversify your party with different elemental attacks and types.
  • A well-built Digimon will still have stronger attacks against enemies with a strong typing (50% resisted) than a random Digimon with no talents and stats raised with a type and elemental advantage.
