You’re working with limited characters in Marvel Zombies, but luckily, these heroes have access to special abilities designed to help them stand strong against the zombie invasion in Marvel Rivals. Jeff is one character you can play, and crafting the best build for him is crucial to success.

Since you don’t usually have access to character-building mechanics outside of this special game mode, figuring out what to give this adorable little beast can be quite a challenge. The choices you make before battle drastically alter your odds of success or failure, so here’s everything you need to know to make the best Marvel Zombies Jeff build in Marvel Rivals.

Best Marvel Rivals Zombies Jeff Build

The best Jeff build in the Marvel Zombies mode is primarily one that focuses on high damage output, as healing isn’t his main speciality in this mode. I do think it’s still worth equipping at least one healing ability, though, as you’ll want to help keep your teammates alive when possible.

Best Abilities for Jeff in Marvel Rivals Zombies

You need to choose three key abilities for Jeff in Marvel Zombies. Overall, I recommend Buoyant Splash, Fusion Bubble, and Hazardous Depths, as these three combined generally make him the most effective unit possible. There are also some other picks that work well, too, depending on what type of build you’re seeking, so here’s a full breakdown of the best abilities to choose.

  • Buoyant Splash or Hydrogrenade – Pick Buoyant Splash if you want a powerful hydro bomb that can deal high splash damage against foes while also healing your allies. I find this ability really effective in the massive zombie swarms, especially if you have teammates like Magik and Blade who tend to be right in the middle of the action. Pick Hydrogrenade if you solely want to focus on high damage output. This ability creates a massive explosion that deals deadly damage and leaves enemies stunned. If you’re looking for big damage numbers, this ability is perfect for you. I personally prefer Buoyant Splash out of the two, but both are great options.
  • Fusion Bubble – Easily the best of the available bubble abilities, as it merges your bubbles together, allowing for more impactful healing at once, so you don’t have to swim around collecting them. If you’re not into this option, the default Vitality Bubble ability is the next best pick.
  • Hazardous Depths – Allows you to continuously gain charge for Jeff’s ultimate ability while using Hide and Seek. Jeff’s Hide and Seek ability is quite effective in this mode, as it allows you to swim underground and use your fin to deal massive damage against foes while also healing yourself, so adding yet another useful buff to it is a huge win. His ultimate is superb in this mode, as you can consume large swarms of zombies at once, so the more you can use it, the better.

Best Traits to Upgrade for Jeff in Marvel Rivals Zombies

It’s best to split your Jeff Trait upgrades between both the Joyful Splash path and the Hide and Seek path. Both of these Traits are incredibly vital in battle, so building both together is the best way to go. Early on, you’ll likely rely on Joyful Splash a bit more since it’s a relentless torrent of water capable of dealing devastating damage against massive swarms of zombies at once. It’s one of the most effective abilities against them out of all the characters in this mode, as you can easily shoot at foes while maintaining a healthy distance from them.

Jeff’s Hide and Seek ability becomes more important in the endgame, as you’ll find swimming underground to whack enemies with your fin, heal, and use the Hazardous Depths ability quite useful. Because of this, it’s best to throw most of your points at Joyful Splash early on, but give a few to Hide and Seek here and there to keep building that path too. You also might consider resetting your build once you reach higher difficulty levels to spend all of your points on a Hide and Seek build.

Best Khonshu’s Blessings for Jeff in Marvel Rivals Zombies

Overall, you want to primarily focus on buying Jeff’s Big Fish Frenzy Blessings, which are the blue ones. You can dabble in the Overflowing Waters Blessings and General Blessings, too, but most of your points should go towards the Big Fish Frenzy ones. Here are the overall best Khonshu’s Blessings to buy.

  • Shark Sovereignty (blue)
  • Tidal Core (blue)
  • Forward Frenzy (blue)
  • Gnasing Waters (red)
  • Jetstream Cannon (red)
  • Vitality Boost (purple)
  • Vampiric Vitality (purple)
  • Full Moon (purple)

How to Make Jeff Bigger in Marvel Zombies in Marvel Rivals

You can make Jeff big by purchasing the Shark Sovereignty Blessing when it shows up. All Blessings are random, so there’s no way to make this one appear, and how easy or tough it is to get simply comes down to luck.

While you might be tempted to grab the Shark Sovereignty Blessing so Jeff can grow bigger, move faster, gain more health, and deal more damage after swallowing enemies, I urge you to be cautious with this one. At the time of writing, this Blessing is a bit buggy, as it eventually makes Jeff so big that you can barely see what’s in front of you.

The other bonuses Shark Sovereignty provides are phenomenal, but you need to be prepared for decreased visibility if you use it. If you’re primarily using a Hide and Seek build, you’ll be fine using it, as you’ll spend most of your time underground with only his fin sticking out. For a Joyful Splash focused build, though, it’s best to steer clear of it if you want to be able to see what you’re doing.

Overall, Jeff is one of the best characters in Marvel Zombies, especially if you craft the right build around him. He’ll allow you to sail through the Zombie Namor and Zombie Scarlet Witch boss battles with ease, helping you save the city in no time at all.
