Dealing with various dangerous elements is part of the fun of Baldur’s Gate 3, but clearing an entire poison cloud can be less straightforward than something as simple as fire. In this BG3 guide, I’ll give you a couple of easy ways to clear any gas cloud so your party can travel unscathed in each zone.
How to Clear Poison Clouds in Baldur’s Gate 3
Using spells like Fog Cloud and Gust of Wind are the best ways to clear poison clouds in Baldur’s Gate 3. These spells will either push all of the poison gas out of the way or completely replace it with a fog that benefits your party instead. Fog Clouds are more common out of both options, but I would use whatever you have in higher supply.
Druid characters tend to have more access to the Gust of Wind spell, while wizard-based classes will likely have Fog Cloud. However, you can find scrolls for these spells in Baldur’s Gate 3 as well. They can be purchased or found all over the map. I have a few Fog Cloud scrolls on my Fighter that are easy to cast in a pinch for standard action points.

In some cases, you can light poison clouds on fire, especially when they are naturally occurring. These tend to set off chain reactions when they work, but not all poison clouds are the same in BG3. Sometimes setting the environment on fire just isn’t the answer.
In areas like the Grymforge as well, poison clouds can be linked to problems like vents, and those require some dice rolls or disarm tools rather than spells and fire. I like to use Astarion to solve these problems, but any decent Rogue will work in BG3.
You’ll likely have to pass some poison clouds for some rare roses as well, and I have a full guide for finding Corpse Roses in Baldur’s Gate 3.
