Vecna The First is a deadly Killer with three special abilities you can use to hunt down and eliminate Survivors. All of the key skills he has at his disposal are as follows.

  • Vine Attack
  • The Upside Down & UnderGate
  • Worldbreaker & Grandfather Clocks

Vine Attack

  • Effects: Press and hold the Power button to charge up a powerful Vine Attack. When this ability is charged, you can press the Attack button to activate it, creating a small area of effect on the ground. Any Survivors who are caught within the area of the Vine Attack earn a Worldbreaker token.

Vecna’s Vine Attack appears as a glowing red portal on the ground, out of which sprout some dangerous vines that strike any Survivor unlucky enough to be caught in them. There’s a bit of a warning sound and mark on the ground when this ability is being used, making it fairly easy to dodge as a Survivor once you learn the warning signs.

The Upside Down & UnderGate

  • Effects: The Killer can enter and traverse through The Upside Down to navigate the map more quickly by selecting the Ability button. While in The Upside Down, the Killer can trigger a special Undergate attack to return to the map, creating a large area of effect on the ground. Survivors who are caught within the radius of this attack gain two Worldbreaker tokens.

Get around more quickly and efficiently using The Upside Down & UnderGate ability, which allows you to enter The Upside Down and trigger a special Undergate attack upon returning to the map. This move activated a large area of effect on the ground, granting Worldbreaker tokens to any Survivors caught within.

Worldbreaker & Grandfather Clocks

  • Effects: When a Survivor has gained enough tokens, Worldbreaker activates, triggering the Worldbreaker Timer. With Worldbreaker active, both the Vine Attack and Undergate attacks do straight damage to Survivors instead of adding Worldbreaker tokens. Additionally, four Grandfather Clocks activate around the map. Worldbreaker lasts for a varying amount of time, depending on the number of Survivors who are alive. Survivors can interact with the Grandfather Clocks across the map to speed up the Worldbreaker Timer.

Vecna’s other two abilities lead up to his final one, which is Worldbreaker & Grandfather Clocks. This move basically transports all players to The Upside Down, a darker version of the map where they’re more susceptible to heavy damage since Vecna is able to attack them instead of stacking up Worldbreaker tokens.

In addition to the abilities Vecna The First can use against Survivors, he also comes with three Perks.

  • Turn Back the Clock
  • Secret Project
  • Hex: Hive Mind

Turn Back the Clock

  • Description: “Resist as they might, time marches on, and your master plan comes closer to fruition.”
  • Effects: After hooking a Survivor for 60 seconds, you can press the ability one button to make a targeted generator within 20 meters explode, causing Survivors to lose 10 percent progress and start regressing.

Slow down Survivors by striking a generator with the Turn Back Clock ability. This move allows you to find and explode one, costing them 10 percent of their hard-earned progress, which buys you more time to hunt them down.

Secret Project

  • Description: “Raised to be a weapon, you broke free with the very skills your captors honed within you.”
  • Effects: Whenever a totem is blessed or cleansed, you can block a random unblocked generator for 30 seconds. When one or more generators are blocked, you gain the Undetectable status effect for 30 seconds.

After a totem has been blessed or cleansed, the Secret Project Perk allows you to block a generator, slowing down Survivors. Whenever at least one generator is blocked, you’ll gain the special Undetectable buff. With the Undetectable status effect active, the Killer’s Aura, Terror Radius, and Red Stain are hidden.

Hex: Hive Mind

  • Description: “You found yourself connected to something dark and unknowable…and you embraced it.”
  • Effects: The first time you hook any Survivor, a Dull Totem transforms into a Hex Totem. While active, generators are highlighted, and the intensity of generator Auras reveals the total amount of repair progress. When only one generator remains, all remaining generators explode, losing 10 percent progress, and start regressing. The Hex Totem also becomes dull.

Vecna’s third and final Perk is Hex: Hive Mind, which grants you the ability to transform a Dull Totem into a Hex Totem after you hook a Survivor for the first time. Additionally, you can explode all remaining generators when only one is left while also draining 10 percent of the Survivor’s progress on it.

If you’re hoping to go up against Vecna The First, it’s a good idea to learn all Eleven Perks and all Dustin Henderson Perks, as these two work quite well against him. To enjoy more Stranger Things madness, you also might want to know the best Demogorgon builds.
