All Materials Required for Ascending the Wanderer in Genshin Impact

The most sadistic farming I have ever seen for a character.

It’s okay, Hoyoverse, we’ve only waited two years for this character to arrive and it’s not like we want it to be the easiest character to farm in Genshin Impact, but the absolute disrespect slapped onto players once these items dropped… Well, I can only pray that you farmed beforehand like I did. The Wanderer is sure to be an amazing character and a fabulous Anemo DPS. Alongside Faruzan, we can expect to see some pretty fun mono teams that arrive from this new team composition.

Now to delve into this emo boy’s complicated ascension.

Wanderer Boss Materials, It’s All Easy Up Until You Realize…

The Wanderer has a pretty simple boss. All you need to do is go tackle the Aeonblight Drake. They are easy to get to by traveling through the caverns in Devantaka Mountains and as long as you bring a bow user along to shoot it down once it’s airborne, it doesn’t prove to be much of a problem. Except, oh, the only gems that it drops are the Shivada Jade and the Varunada Lazurite. And the Wanderer has an Anemo vision.

This is one of those circumstances where you spend weeks grinding for a boss only to result in half your supply for building up your characters. Since the Wanderer is going to need Vayuda Turquoise, you’re going to want to bank on either your collection that has amassed in the days farming for him beforehand or going against bosses that are strictly Anemo. That way, you can rest assured that you are getting the right drops. Another method, however, to get the gems that you need is by transfiguring them at the crafting table. This can be costly, however, because if you run through this table a lot in order to get the right drops, you could easily run out of the second material you need. Dust of Azoth is needed in order to change the gems you need and this material can only be found in the Stardust Exchange at 10x Dust of Azoths for five Stardust. So while this is an easy fix if you need one or two, only use this in the case that you need chunks since the rest can be pretty easily farmed from bosses or by doing daily commissions in which you get the chance to get any type of Slivers from Katheryne.

Sumeru and Inazuma Exclusive Materials

As if they couldn’t be any more devious, HoYoverse decided to give not one but two of the most difficult things to farm for in Genshin Impact. First, from Sumeru, the exclusive item you are going to need is the Rukkashava Mushrooms. While these mushrooms can be found in quite a few places around Sumeru, that doesn’t mean they are all the easier to get since most of those areas are also locked behind side quests.

The only accessible areas that these can be found in are the Mawtiyima Forest and the Apam Woods, hidden on the forest floor which isn’t so bad and yet in Mawtiyima are tucked away in the mushroom trees. The most tedious of tasks. But bless your souls, they can also be bought. In Gandharva Village, there is an adventurer near a cooking pot that gives away not only cooking items but these mushrooms as well. While he can only sell you five every two to three days, it can still save you time from having to tour around Sumeru forests. The other shop is locked behind the Aranara quest but is available early on.

In Vanarana, there is a lettuce shopkeeper who sells some pretty nice exclusive materials that include not only the Rukkashava Mushrooms but the Kalpalata Lotus as well. They also replenish their shop every two to three days, but hopping between their shops as well as running around Sumeru will get you to the required number of mushrooms the Wanderer needs in no time.

Pouring more salt into the wound, the Wanderer is going to need Handguards from the country of Inazuma. This should come as no surprise since he has a lot of history with both countries, but the Handguards tend to drop at a lower rate than most other mob drops and there are only certain groups of rogues in Inazuma that these can be collected from. You can use your handy dandy Adventurer’s Journal in order to better track down the enemies Nobushi. While the icon indicates that it’s one of the more intimidating of the rogues, this will lead you to many others that will drop the same Handguards. Once you run out of these enemies, however, you can start tackling the Ley Lines. Certain battles around Inazuma will result in a battle with rogues where you can also farm for Handguards.

  • x1 Vayuda Turquoise Sliver, x9 Vayuda Turquoise Fragment, x9 Vayuda Turquoise Chunk, x6 Vayuda Turquoise Gemstone
  • x46 Perpetual Caliber
  • X168 Rukkashava Mushrooms
  • x18 Old Handguard, x30 Kageuchi Handguard, x36 Famed Handguard

Talent Materials, Surely This Should Be Easier

Pretty standard to characters that have been released in Sumeru, the Wanderer is going to need talents from the Steeple of Ignorance. Praxis can be found on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with all talents being available on Sundays. Luckily, he only shares these with Collei and Nilou, but as a DPS Catalyst, you will need a lot to ascend most if not all of his talent branches.

The other item he’s going to need to ascend these talents is more Handguards. At this point, if you’re frustrated like I am about having to farm these things all over again in Inazuma, you can join me in occasionally visiting Paimon’s Bargains where I will definitely be shopping for some of these drops. After all the Inazuman characters, it just becomes a triggering memory at some point having to see a new character requires these old exclusives.

Once you get him past Level Six, he’s going to need World Boss items. So he has to fight the ghosts of his prodigal past, Shouki no Kami in order to get the drops of Daka’s Bell. These items are significantly easier to transfigure if you find you don’t have enough since you’ll get Dream Solvent each time you battle a World Boss, which is needed to change drops.

Talent Ascension Materials Needed for ONE Branch (With Crown)

  • x3 Teachings of Praxis, x21 Guide to Praxis, x38 Philosophies of Praxis
  • x6 Old Handguard, x21 Kageuchi Handguard, x31 Famed Handguard
  • x6 Daka’s Bell from Shouki no Kami, The Prodigal Wold Boss
  • x1 Crown of Insight
