All Diablo 4’s New Unique Malignant Rings and How to Farm Them

Down with the sickness

Diablo 4 had a surprising update last week, which included the introduction of several new unique rings which feature abilities taken from last season’s mechanic, Malignant Powers. Here’s how to get your very own, class-specific ring.

Diablo 4 Unique Malignant Rings Source and Drop Rate

These five, class-specific rings drop from Varshan in World Tier 4 as a somewhat likely drop, although I’ve killed him five times since they released with no luck myself. There are also reports of them being dropped from regular endgame activities like the Blood Harvest and Nightmare Dungeons, although you should expect the drop rates from these sources to be much lower.

If you’re wondering what these rings do, here’s a full list of their Unique (Malignant) Powers:

Rogue – Writhing Band of Trickery: Casting a Subterfuge Skill leaves behind a Decoy Trap that continuously Taunts and lures enemies. The Decoy Trap explodes after 3 seconds dealing [~8,000] Shadow damage. Can occur every 12 seconds.

Sorcerer – Tal Rasha’s Iridescent Loop: For each type of Elemental damage you deal, gain ~14% increased damage for 4 seconds. Dealing Elemental damage refreshes all bonuses.

Barbarian – Ring of Red Furor: After spending 100 Fury within 3 seconds, your next cast of Hammer of the Ancients, Upheaval, or Death Blow is a guaranteed Critical Strike and deals ~25% bonus Critical Strike Damage.

Druid – Airidah’s Inexorable Will: When casting an Ultimate Skill and gain 5 seconds after, you Pull in Distant enemies and deal ~2,500 Physical damage to them. This damage is increased by 1% per 1 point of Willpower you have.

Necromancer – Ring of Sacrilegious Soul: You automatically activate the following equipped Skills on Corpses around you: Raise Skeleton every ~1 second. Corpse Explosion every ~1 second. Corpse Tendrils every ~8 seconds.

How to Summon Varshan

To summon Varshan in World Tier 4, you’ll need four items: a Trembling Hand, Gurgling Head, Malignant Heart, and Blackened Femur. These can be dropped from Grotesque Debtors, which sometimes appear when tackling Whisper bounties, and are also dropped frequently from the cache rewarded by the Tree of Whispers for completing enough bounties.

Once you have these items, head to the Malignant Burrow next to the Tree of Whispers (see the map below). Make your way inside and head to the end of the tunnel, where you’ll place the items in the pedestal to summon the boss.

If you die to Varshan, don’t worry – you can try again without spending the materials as long as you don’t leave the Malignant Burrow. Like I said, the drop rate for the rings seems to be slightly low, but I may just be unlucky. Anecdotally, I’ve read plenty of people say they’ve received their ring within 3 or so kills. Good luck!
