The AWP has been the most powerful gun in Counter-Strike since its inception and is still the only gun that is a “one shot, one kill” to the body, even if the opponent has a kevlar vest. A lot of eSports players have made their careers with their insane AWP skills (KennyS for example) and now, a historical nerf of this almighty bolt-action sniper rifle is upon us. Find out what the change to AWP in CS:GO is and how this nerf will impact you in the future, here on Prima Games.
What Nerf Just Happened to the AWP in CS:GO?
No, don’t worry, this isn’t about the AWP’s damage. We feel that Valve is not THAT crazy to make such a fundamental change to what is basically the tradition of the game. However, one other part of the AWP got nerfed. Yes, you guessed it. Ammunition.

The AWP now has just 5 bullets (down from 10). This change will force players to be more conservative with their ammo, whether they are watching an angle, dueling with another AWP user, or trying to poke holes in soft walls or doors.
Back in the day of old Counter-Strike, you could be OK with just 10 bullets if you couldn’t afford the ammo because you either won the round or got killed by the time you spent them. This change provides a bit of pressure on the AWP user, because the reload time is not that fast. Yes, technically speaking, this nerf shouldn’t impact you if you kill all 5 enemy players with those 5 bullets, but nobody has 100% accuracy. Even an aimbot misses from time to time, for crying out loud.

What this change will bring to the eSports scene is yet to be seen in future tournaments, but we are confident that there will be nothing groundbreaking. Just minor tactical adjustments. See you soon on Prima Games!
