You Can Play Rainbow Six Siege During GTA 6 Launch For Free Rewards, Says Director

Rainbow Six Siege, like many others, knows it’s about to face one of the biggest gaming releases ever. But Ubisoft is not planning to simply watch players disappear when GTA 6 launches. Instead, the team behind Siege wants to reward the players who stick around.
Speaking in an interview with The Game Business, Rainbow Six Siege creative director Joshua Mills acknowledged that Grand Theft Auto 6 will likely pull players away from every major multiplayer game when it arrives. However, he said Ubisoft’s focus is on making sure the dedicated Siege community and player base feels valued during that time.
“We’ve got a massive launch coming with GTA,” Mills said, explaining that every genre will most likely feel the impact. Rather than worrying about temporary player drops, he said the team’s approach is to support the loyal players who continue playing.
“Our golden rule is to serve the players who stay like kings and queens,” Mills said. He added that the team plans to “double down and reward those spending their valuable time with us.”
While Ubisoft and Joshua Mills have not revealed the full details of these rewards yet, he teased that Rainbow Six Siege’s Season Four will arrive around the same time as GTA 6’s launch window. He added that the team has “unannounced surprises” planned to make an impact.
The Siege franchise has recently entered a new era with Rainbow Six Siege X and continues receiving major updates after nearly a decade on the market. Ubisoft has been focused on keeping R6S active with new content, balance changes, and improvements aimed at maintaining its long-term player base.
GTA 6 is expected to dominate gaming conversations when it launches, and Mills admitted that even Siege developers themselves will likely spend time playing it. But Ubisoft’s message is clear: players who choose to stay with Rainbow Six Siege during that period should expect some extra appreciation.
Whether those rewards live up to the expectations enough to compete with the behemoth that is GTA 6 remains to be seen, but Siege players may have a good reason to keep logging in when GTA 6 finally arrives.
