Xbox One Controller Could be PC Compatible Next Year

Microsoft's new controller may work on more than one platform.

We already have a feel for Microsoft’s new Xbox One controller, and while it’s a bit smaller than the Xbox 360 pad, it is comfortable – and more importantly, responsive. However, its functionality could go deeper than expected, if Microsoft has its way.

In an interview with CVG, the company stated that it would make the Xbox One controller PC compatible.  However, it won’t work right off the bat, and the process indicates it won’t be ready to go until sometime in 2014. This is due to the controller’s intricate structure, since it has 40 different functions that work differently than the regular peripheral.

If you haven’t seen the controller yet, Microsoft released a new video that goes into more detail.

The Xbox One releases later this year.
