With The Hobbit set to come out later this year (and the second chapter scheduled to be released next year), WB Games is really excited to get their Lord of the Rings-licensed games out to the public. They’ve already got a MOBA game in the works (Guardians of Middle Earth) from the team at Monolith, and now there’s something that the whole family will enjoy.
The game is called Lego The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and, as you might have guessed, Travellers Tales, the team that worked on previous Lego titles, is handling development duties. The game will follow the J.R.R. Tolkien saga with familiar characters and adventurous situations where one or two players can build items, destroy enemies and try to get the one Ring to Mordor. Lego style, of course.
“We are huge aficionados of The Lord of the Rings franchise and are incredibly excited to put our special Lego family-friendly touch on this classic fantasy adventure,” said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games. “We’ve taken what fans are familiar with and love about The Lord of the Rings films and combined it with the playful Lego style, which makes the story and gameplay accessible to gamers of all ages.”
Lego The Lord of the Rings Trilogy is set to arrive for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, PC and PlayStation Vita later this year. We’ll provide a preview soon and let you know if it should be “your precious.”
