Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Does Not Have Denuvo

Saber Interactive confirmed in their FAQ that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 does not have any DRM protection with Denuvo listed as one of the services.

Here is the relevant question from the FAQ:

Q: Does the game use DRM software (ie. Denuvo…)?
A: No.

This means that the game will have the usual Steam DRM protection, which isn’t intrusive in any form. Denuvo has been the subject of a lot of controversy since it became a mainstream tool used by multiple developers and publishers to protect their titles from privacy. It has led to performance degradation in multiple titles in the past, though it’s a bit less common now.

The more worrying aspect is the daily activation limit, which can be problematic for outlets and creators who aim to test the title on multiple machines. While this isn’t usually an issue for regular consumers, it’s still annoying to have to deal with.

Thankfully, Space Marine 2 doesn’t have anything of the sort, so it won’t be subject to any possible Denuvo-related issues, at least on the PC version. Players can also enjoy the campaign offline, but the game uses Easy Anti Cheat for all of its online features and multiplayer modes.

Outside of that, PC players can expect the following features at the launch of Space Marine 2:

  • Co-op with crossplay support (outside of PvP modes)
  • Dedicated servers for Eternal War (PvP Mode)
  • Cross-save support
  • Text and voice chat
  • DLSS2 / FSR2 – DLSS3 / FSR3 are planned for post-launch

While it’s certainly a demanding title on PC, especially on the CPU side, we’re hopeful that there are enough options for players to adjust and get the most out of their systems.
