In the latest move in their restructuring (one that has caused many projects to be shuffled and/or cancelled), THQ has announced that it will no longer be publishing Devil’s Third, the latest project from Tomonobu Itagaki and his team at Valhalla Studios.  The game, a thrilling action opus featuring over-the-top bloodshed and scenarios, was set to be published by the company in 2013.

After a huge discussion, both sides agreed that THQ simply couldn’t publish the project, and instead of involving another third-party publisher, the company simply handed the rights of the game back to Valhalla.

“THQ confirms that the company will not be publishing Devil’s Third,” stated a THQ rep to Eurogamer.  “All of the game’s IP rights have been returned to Itagaki-san and the Valhalla team.”

But it’s not a bitter break-up.  Itagaki, speaking with Famitsu, stated that he’s quite appreciative of former THQ prez Danny Bilson and the team’s efforts to keep the game alive.  Also, he stated that it’s nearing the final stages of development, and is on the hunt for a new publisher.

Good luck to Itagaki and the gang.  We can’t wait to see this game in action.
