THQ Confirms Company of Heroes 2

Following up on last week's rumor, we have confirmation of this hot strategy sequel.

Last week we reported the rumor that Relic Entertainment was in fact working on the long-awaited sequel to its hit strategy game Company of Heroes.  It looks like you can’t keep a good rumor down because today THQ confirmed that Company of Heroes 2 is official and on track for release in early 2013.

“Company of Heroes 2 is a true successor, introducing a new front, new protagonists, and new technology while retaining the unique mix of strategic gameplay and competitive multiplayer that made the original Company of Heroes such a success,” said Greg Wilson, producer at Relic Entertainment.

The company also provided a quick quip from the storyline:

It is 1941 and the beginning of what will become the most brutal conflict of World War II, as Germany launches a full-scale invasion of the frozen tundra of the Soviet Union which would result in over 14 million military casualties.  Take command of the iconic Soviet Red Army in brutal frontline warfare to free Mother Russia from the invading Nazis.

THQ won’t be attending E3 at a booth but they did confirm they would be holding an event somewhere in the vicinity. Company of Heroes 2 should definitely be a part of that showcase.  Look for more information soon!
