Square Enix Will Only Remake Final Fantasy 7 Once It’s Surpassed By Another FF

"The new Final Fantasy must overcome the Final Fantasy of the past"

For a long, long time, encouraged by a PS3 tech demo, Final Fantasy 7 fans (myself included) have been whining on and on about a remake. Sadly, it looks like we’ll be waiting even longer if it’ll ever happen.

Square Enix has come out and said it’ll only consider remaking the game once a new Final Fantasy game “exceeds the quality” of FF7.

Does Square Enix think this is doable? Boss man Yoichi Wada has admitted the Final Fantasys of recent years haven’t quite matched the quality of FF7. He even went so far as to say that if a remake was release now, the franchise itself “would be done with”.

“The new Final Fantasy must overcome the Final Fantasy of the past,” he said.

The comments come after a supposed leak suggested Final Fantasy 7 was coming to Steam with new features such as cloud saving (teeheeheeheehee), achievements and online profiles to compare progress with friends. I always wanted a battle arena to play against friends. I still want that. Please remake it Square, please.
