Square Enix is known for its high-profile role-playing adventures, but last year it struck a different kind of chord with the music/rhythm game Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy for Nintendo 3DS. This game combined familiar role-playing themes with a music/rhythm interface to create a unique experience unlike any other. Now it looks like it’s coming back for a Curtain Call.
The company announced the follow-up today, which is set to launch in Japan early next year for the Nintendo 3DS. The game will feature a playlist of over 200 songs to choose from, including tracks from newer games like Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. In addition, 60 characters will be unlockable over the course of the game, including many familiar heroes and villains. You’ll also be able to take part in a Versus Battle Mode with your friends.
Theatrhythm: Curtain Call doesn’t have a release outside of Japan, but it’s just a matter of time before Square Enix introduces it for the western market. Look for more information soon.
