Following the game’s reveal a few years ago, Sable was originally intended to release in 2019, but was then delayed to 2020. Given everything that happened in 2020, it didn’t come as too much of a surprise when the game wound up being delayed again into 2021.

With this in mind, it’s exciting to know the wait to play this gorgeous game is finally almost over!

Sable Gets September 23 Release Date

Sable has an official release date following an announcement during the Summer Game Fest stream. Following a few delays, Sable will now release on September 23, 2021.

During a previous ID@Xbox showcase, it was confirmed that Sable will be playable day one on Xbox Game Pass for PC so if the September 23 release date left you wondering about Game Pass, you can expect to be able to play it starting September 23.

Adding to the excitement of the release date announcement today was a performance of a song from the game’s original soundtrack courtesy of indie rock band Japanese Breakfast.

Overall, the announcement felt triumphant, with a date finally being put on the calendar for fans to look forward to. Ourselves included, we’ve been patiently waiting to play Sable since its reveal a few years back!

For those unfamiliar with Sable, or looking for a refresher on what Sable is, here’s the description found on the game’s Steam page

“Embark on a unique and unforgettable journey and guide Sable through her Gliding; a rite of passage that will take her across vast deserts and mesmerizing landscapes, capped by the remains of spaceships and ancient wonders.

Explore the dunes on your hoverbike, scale monumental ruins and encounter other nomads as you unearth mysteries long forgotten and discover who she really is behind her mask.

With its unique art style and original soundtrack by Japanese Breakfast, envelop yourself in Sable’s world and explore everything at your own pace. There is a lot in this world just waiting to be discovered. Do not be afraid. Take the leap.”

And, as you can see from screenshots, GIFs, and trailers for Sable, the game is absolutely gorgeous. Additionally, we’ve included the exclusive 13 minutes of gameplay for Sable revealed by IGN a few days ago for you to check out if you haven’t done so already.

While we wait just a little longer for Sable’s release on September 23, we’re curious to hear your thoughts on the game. Are you looking forward to playing Sable on September 23? Is this a game you’re hearing about for the first time?
