Remnant 2 officially launched on July 25, 2023, bringing the sequel to 2019’s Remnant: From the Ashes to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Slowly but surely, the game’s critic reviews have been revealed and Remnant 2 has officially received Metacritic scores from both professional videogame industry writers and its users. Let’s take a look at how Gunfire Games’ third-person shooter is being received, and examine how its review scores compare to previous games in the series.
Remnant 2 Critic Metascores
As of this writing, Remnant 2 has achieved the following Metacritic Scores:
- 80 on PC
- 79 on PS5
Presently, the game’s Xbox Series X|S version does not yet have a Metacritic rating. Remnant 2’s scores, while respectable, place outside of the top 100 in Metacritic’s rankings for both platforms.
Remnant 2 User Scores
Remnant 2 has received the following ratings from its audience:
- 6.7 on PC
- 7.6 on PS5
- 7.1 on Xbox Series X|S.
These scores signify positive, yet somewhat mixed reviews (especially on PC) from consumers.
Remnant 2 vs. the Remnant Series
Remnant 2 has (mostly) exceeded both 2019’s Remnant: From the Ashes and its 2020 prequel Chronos: Before the Ashes to become the highest-rated game in the series. Chronos achieved critic ratings of 67 (PC), 68 (PS4), 67 (Nintendo Switch), and 71 (Xbox One), while From the Ashes achieved Metascores of 78 (PC), 77 (PS4). However, the Xbox One version of the first game in the Remnant series still holds the record for the highest rating of the franchise with an impressive 81.
