Last week, Sony held their PS5 games event to show off what PlayStation fans have to look forward to when the next generation of gaming arrives. Though Sony execs previously warned not to anticipate a hardware reveal, the company apparently decided that they wanted to go for a big surprise to end their showcase with our first look at the PS5 console itself. Despite its division reception, the PS5 console reveal event is the company’s most-liked video of all time.
At the time this article was written, the PS5 hardware reveal trailer was sitting at almost 23 million views, 1.1 million likes, and 49 thousand dislikes. Though the design has been very divisive, it certainly was a choice that no one expected with a futuristic stylization that definitely takes the next-gen into an entirely different direction.
When Sony first revealed our first look at the new console, they revealed two versions: the standard disc PS5 system and a disc-less option that provides an all-digital option for gamers and their libraries. We still don’t have a price point for either system, same with the Xbox Series X, but for now, we at least have a look at what both systems look like with more reveals coming in later months to see exactly what the launch title setup will be.
