Previews from various magazines have shown off the first major, more traditional full expansion for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, it goes by the name Shivering Isles.

We presume the expansion will be available on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC but there’s no official word from Bethesda as of yet.

The expansion will bring a heap of new content, including an entire new location, which you might have guess is named the Shivering Isles. Apparently said destination is also know as the Realm of Madness and is under the rule of the Daedric Prince Sheogorath. Apparently you’ll be requested to join his cause in helping to save him from the god Juggalef and his Greymarch, who are attempting to wipe out everything and everyone in the land, cleansing it of its madness.

It seems that humor takes precedent in this expansion, with a healthy dose of the aforementioned madness in the characters’ dialogue. Included in the pack is a quest in which you’ll be tasked to join the ranks of Sheogorath’s minions to somehow rid the land of adventurers seeking to grab loot. Sheogorath has decided the best way to do this is by sentencing them to death, which he’s already done. The quest will present players with the option of either taking heed of his commands by running straight in and killing the looters or instead setting up a series of traps and illusions to send them crazy.

Niben Bay is the closest location you’ll already know, and will be suitable for characters at any level.

Rumor has it that the expansion might be released in Q2 2007. Nobody knows as of yet whether it’ll be exclusively downloadable or released on CD.
