Want Gigantamax Pikachu but haven’t had any luck triggering their arrival in Pokemon Sword and Shield? Then we’ve got good news thanks to a recent game update. Where getting Gigantamax versions of our favorite pocket monsters was tricky due to it being limited to only certain events and times, the latest update makes it easy to stumble upon Gigantamax Pikachu in Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Previously, if players wanted the Gigantamax version of either Pikachu or Eevee, they would have to have Pokemon Let’s Go files. For those that wanted this version of Mewoth, it was offered as a limited-time Mystery Gift that ended on January 15th earlier this year. Thanks to the Gigantamax Pikachu Max Raid Battles that are available now, at least this version of Pikachu is much easier to get.

The Gigantamax Pikachu Max Raid Battles feature is available now and makes finding this version of the character out in the wild much easier. For those that want to supersize their experience, the Gigantamax Pikachu Wild Area Event is live now and will run until May 18th. Following this event’s conclusion, there will be even more raid activity with Gigantamax versions of both Meowth and Eevee.

Fans were definitely excited for the more accessible change and the ability to up their Pokemon Sword and Shield game a bit:

The team behind Pokemon Sword and Shield are hard at work on expanding the worlds of these two Pokemon experiences with The Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra expansions which will include even more Gigantamax versions of the most iconic pocket monsters in the franchise’s history.

Though some of the passion for the latest Pokemon adventures has simmered down quite a bit thanks to the Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the community is still active and ready for more trainer-related experiences.
