The unique video game handheld system the Playdate is releasing this year, and Panic has new details to share about it on June 8, 2021. The video showcase will take place at 9 am PT, and for fifteen minutes, the showcase will go over some of the games coming to the platform.
Playdate Update Video Showcase Announced For June 8th
The showcase will also feature news on pre-orders and even more surprises that haven’t been announced yet. You can watch the showcase right here.
The Playdate will retail for $179 and have 24 games at launch. Originally announced to only have 12 games in what Panic is calling “Season One,” today’s announcement doubles that original total.
Speaking of doubling, the Playdate will now come with 4GB of storage as opposed to the originally announced 2GB.
The co-founder of Panic, Cabel Sasser, has this to say in a release given to the press.
“There’s a lot of amazing things being created here that will hopefully add a bit of joy to your life. And while we’re launching a price a little bit higher than we planned — largely due to the massive global shortage of electronic parts right now — we took the last year to double the number of free games included in Season One. More on that in the update.”
It is also stated that pre-orders from the product will not go live after the showcase, but information on when will be clear.
