Overwatch New Hero Sigma Gets Twisted New Origins Video, Defies Gravity

The new Overwatch hero, Sigma, has been revealed with a borderline terrifying new trailer.

The new Overwatch hero has officially been revealed after weeks of teasers and we can say one thing for certain: Sigma is freaking weird. The latest addition to the roster coming soon is an “eccentric” astrophysicist that claims to have shed the boundaries of illusion regarding both freedom and imprisonment. The result is probably one of the weirdest origin videos from the Overwatch team to-date. Check it out below:

The look feels very much like Moira meets Reaper with a voice that sounds like the usual mad scientist trope seen thousands of times before. With that in mind, this hero is drastically different than anything we’ve seen thus far in the popular Blizzard shooter and his ability to defy gravity could make him a total game-changer when it comes to comp, strategy, and sticking to that payload.

Like previous Origins videos, this was simply a teaser into the backstory of the new hero, not an actual in-game representation. Still, seeing this it will be very interesting to see how that gravity control translates in-game and what that means for some of the tanks on the enemy side.

Given that we usually see gameplay the same week as origin videos, it’s possible we’ll be seeing his actual moves later this week. Until then, we’re going to just keep wigging out over this mathematical genius.

Overwatch is now available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
