Anyone who has played any online games in the past few years is familiar with the Online Pass: a one-time use code that comes with new copies of games to enable online features.  While many publishers use online passes to a greater or lesser degree these days, Electronic Arts won’t be one of them in the years ahead.

“We’re discontinuing Online Pass,” said EA senior director of corporate communications John Reseburg. “None of our new EA titles will include that feature. Initially launched as an effort to package a full menu of online content and services, many players didn’t respond to the format. We’ve listened to the feedback and decided to do away with it moving forward.”

“We’re still committed to creating content and services that enhance the game experience well beyond the day you first start playing,” noted Reseburg.

We’re one step closer to straightforward online Madden dominance!
