No New The Elder Scrolls 6 News “For Years,” According to Pete Hines

If you were hoping for new The Elder Scrolls 6 news, you're going to have a bad time. Let's just blame the murder hornets, because that sounds cooler.

Bethesda’s Pete Hines confirms that there will be no new The Elder Scrolls 6 news over the next few years, pushing those far-away expectations even farther in terms of when we will actually see any gameplay or progress on the latest entry.

When Bethesda first teased The Elder Scrolls 6 back in 2018 during their E3 showcase, it was a simple reveal of the title screen with a Tamriel backdrop. Since then, both Pete Hines and Todd Howard have mentioned numerous times that the reveal was solely meant to reassure fans that they were still dedicated to single-player adventures following the divisive reaction to the online game Fallout 76. But despite that clarity, that hasn’t stopped fans from wanted to know more, but it looks like we’re going to have to be a little more patient than we might want to be.

Hines took to Twitter after one fan tagged Hines on the social media platform asking when we could possibly be learning more about The Elder Scrolls 6, especially with so many announcements on the horizon. According to the Bethesda exec, “It’s after Starfield, which you pretty much know nothing about. So if you’re coming at me for details now and not years from now, I’m failing to properly manage your expectations.”

The Bethesda executive has always been known for his ability to cut to the chance and it does call attention to the many instances in which higher-ups have tried to temper those expectations. With the clearly laid out reasoning behind the very early reveal, there won’t be any new Elder Scrolls news until Starfield is closer to launch.

That’s not to say we won’t have any of those expected leaks on Reddit and Twitter, and some of them may even be rooted in truth thanks to trusted sources, but anything official? That’s going to take some time. Still, it’s good of Bethesda to be so forthcoming when it comes to setting clear expectations. The internet is going to get excited no matter what and they are going to come up with their own conclusions, but at least there are clearly sourced points during this waiting period where the team is doing what they can to make sure everyone is on the same page.

As for Starfield, Hines is right – we really don’t know much. We know this space game will be a next-generation adventure and that it’s currently the studio’s biggest priority. The Sci-Fi adventure is still very much a mystery but at least we know we’ll be getting more news about that sooner than anything about The Elder Scrolls.
