No Man’s Sky Joins Xbox Game Pass With Crossplay

Haven't checked out No Man's Sky yet? Now is your chance to try it out for free!

No Man’s Sky is officially joining the Xbox Game Pass lineup later this week after making the announcement a few weeks ago. This means that players can take to the skies, for free, with an active membership, but that’s not the only good news regarding the adventure title from Hello Games.

The addition of No Man’s Sky will also apply to the PC version of the Xbox Game Pass as well, which makes it the perfect time to also talk about crossplay! With the game being out now on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, the ability to play together regardless of platform is important. Luckily, Hello Games knows this and that’s why they’ve decided that PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC players will be able to play with each other, regardless of platform, starting on June 11th! Since that’s the same day the game is also arriving on the Xbox Game Pass, we’re about to see a major influx in NMS’s player base, especially with that platform barrier taken down.

“A tremendous amount of work has gone into this update and the underlying technology and systems,” mentions Hello Games CEO Sean Murray in a recent blog post. “We’ve moved to an entirely new networking architecture, with more flexibility for the future, allowing players to play together regardless of platform. I’m very proud of the team that has worked so hard to make this happen.”

For those that may be unfamiliar with the Xbox Game Pass, this membership allows players unlimited access to a wide variety of Xbox One and Xbox 360 titles for only $9.99 a month. This also includes same-day freebies for first-party launches for franchises like Crackdown, Halo, Gears of War, and more. It’s a phenomenal deal, especially now that this same offer has been extended to PC.

As for No Man’s Sky, this game was the turnaround of the century. When it first launched, No Man’s Sky was bombarded with negative reviews, giving it a historically bad reputation that no one thought could be turned around. After a year of silence quietly working behind-the-scenes with the team, Murray was able to not only make drastic changes to the game itself, but completely change the minds of gamers around the world. This game also continues to have an extremely high presence in the Twitch community as well. It just goes to show; it’s never too late.

No Man’s Sky officially joins the Xbox Game Pass with crossplay capability on June 11. Are you excited? Sound off with your thoughts over on Twitter @PrimaGames, we’d love to hear what you think!
