Nintendo has announced its plans to purchase Next Level Games. Primarily known for their work on Luigi’s Mansion, the Next Level team has been working hard for Nintendo for quite some time.
The Vancouver based studio has also worked on other projects such as Super Mario Strikers, Punch-Out for the Wii, and Metroid Prime: Federation Force.
Nintendo To Acquire Canadian Studio Next Level Games
To most people, they probably already assumed Nintendo owned next Level Games, but that was not the case. However, Nintendo did decide to put a ring on it and make it official. So you can expect Next Level to stick around and make Nintendo games for the foreseeable future, which is excellent!
We’re curious what they make next; considering how successful Luigi’s Mansion 3 was, it’s probably safe to assume we will get another installment in the franchise, but who knows! Maybe they finally revisit the highly requested Super Mario Strikers series, or something entirely new.
The possibilities are endless, and it’s an exciting time for Next Level Games. The deal doesn’t officially go through until March 1, so there’s still time for things to change, but you can expect this deal to be finished unless something major happens. No financial numbers have been provided for this acquisition, but those may come out closer to the agreement being finished, or maybe we will never know!
