New Sonic the Hedgehog Movie Trailer Looks Much Better

There's a new Sonic the Hedgehog movie trailer and it is infinitely better than our first look.
This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

When the first look at the Sonic the Hedgehog movie leaked, a lot of Sonic lovers were horrified to see the wide-eyed, long-armed monstrosity that was supposed to be Sonic. Still, many held out hope that it was a false leak or just a bad poster pick, that was until the official trailer was released. The response was immediate and not in the slightest positive, but at least the memes were downright hilarious.

For those that for some reason feel like movies geared towards children erases their entire childhoods, there’s good news! The newest Sonic the Hedgehog movie trailer looks to be an amazing reworking from the initial design:

Hopefully, everything works out for the best, both for fans and for the team behind the upcoming film. After the success of Detective Pikachu, we’re pulling for Sega to have a similar win.

According to the video’s official description, “Sonic the Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound — human — best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.”

We’ll be able to see the full movie for ourselves, including how the entire world of Sonic adapts to this real-world vision when the movie drops on February 20, 2020.
