Valve are planning on releasing a new campaign for the first Left 4 Dead game, it’s called Crash Course, it’ll be out next month, completely free on PC, and 560 points on Xbox Live.
Crash Course is a co-op campaign, complete with new Survival mode maps, it’s “primary goal” being to streamline the Versus mode to make it a 30 minute experience.
The campaign is set in the time between previous campaigns No Mercy and Death Toll. There’s a new recharge timer for infected team-mates in Versus mode, and the item-spawning has been modified. There’s apparently set to be an “explosive finale” and features dialogue from the original cast.
When speaking to Eurogamer, Valve boss Gabe Newell said “Since the release of Left 4 Dead last November, the design team has been excited about creating new experiences for this world and allowing players to do the same, by releasing much of our internal toolset, like the Survival Pack and Authoring Tools. We’re working with the fans toward the ongoing entertainment value of the product.”
Crash Course is “targeted for release in September”, Left 4 Dead 2 is set to be released on 17th November.
